Taking on P90X as a Team

working out together

Tomorrow it happens. What is IT you say? I’m glad you asked. I’m VERY, VERY happy to announce that tomorrow my wife and I will be starting P90X together! This is great news for many reasons but the one that stands out the most is the fact that we will have each other for support [...] Read more »

One Week Review 2012

15 Bean Veggie Soup

One week has come and gone. This year is already flying by. What did I learn this last week? I learned that I could never be a vegetarian. EVER! I love vegetables but there’s no way I could ever give up eating lean healthy meats. We struggled with the meal planning because it was just [...] Read more »

The End of a Tough Year for Weight Loss

New Year Resolutions

This year has been tough. Honestly I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t reach my goal or that I was on track to reach my goal but ended up gaining everything right back. Talk about mentally challenging. That was a tough pill for me to swallow and I’ve had to do so more than [...] Read more »

10 Minute Trainer Challenge – Halfway Point

fruit

It occurred to me a couple days ago that I hadn’t been keeping track (on this blog) of my challenge. Ever since my wife went back to work after being off for 3 months of maternity leave I have been pretty busy. It’s definitely easier when you have two people managing the kids but I [...] Read more »

My New Approach to Reaching my Weight Loss Goals

Waking up

Recently I mentioned I was doing the 10 Minute Trainer Challenge through December. I received my workout in the mail yesterday and can’t wait to get started! I was reading an article last week that talked about having a morning routine — something you do EVERY morning after waking up. I can honestly say I’ve [...] Read more »

I’m back. I was waiting to confirm my place in an upcoming 30-day challenge this December. My friend Buster is doing his thing by encouraging and inspiring others to get fit. This guy is magnificent! He never lets up and he’s always upbeat and positive. If you’re struggling with weight loss and staying motivated, Buster [...] Read more »

Starting up the Engines Yet Again

frustration

Time to fire up the engines again because I am riding some pretty rough seas right now. Where do I start? I have gradually (relative term) been on a slippery decline ever since my big weigh in where I weighed in at 262. Where am I at now? Quite honestly I’m too embarrassed to say [...] Read more »

My Last Post…For Now

stop

I don’t have much in terms of readers but I still thought I owed it to those that do an explanation of what’s going on. I just don’t have the time to spend writing on this blog as much as I would need to to make it something. I’ve got Enemy of Debt — a [...] Read more »

Thoughts about Overeaters Anonymous from a Compulsive Overeater

Overeates Anonymous

I mentioned in my last post that I totally chickened out on going to the Overeaters Anonymous meeting on Thursday. I also said I planned on going on Sunday, and that my wife planned on going with me for support. As it turned out my wife ended up not being able to go, and [...] Read more »

Overeaters Anonymous — I Chickened Out on Thursday!

Little Chicken

Well, after checking out some information about Overeaters Anonymous this week I decided I was going to do it. It definitely sounds like something I need, as my problem with food is a really big one. It’s almost like a bad relationship gone terribly wrong! I know I need to kick it to the curb [...] Read more »

Pondering the Idea of Attending Overeaters Anonymous

lots of food

In case you’re wondering, my wife gave birth to Hannah Rose one day early. Last Tuesday at 7:29 a.m. she was born and she is beautiful! I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was for me to have started on the same week as the birth, but I did fairly decent. No [...] Read more »

It’s Time to Do It My Way!

rough road ahead

In my last post I suggested that I may need to try a different approach regarding how I tackle my very obvious eating problem. I freaking love junk food! Burgers, fries, pizza, Chinese, Indian, lasagne, donuts, cookies, ice cream, pasta and pretty much anything that's bad for you. You name it, and I probably LOVE IT! I suppose I'm not much different from anyone else. The problem for me is that I lack the needed self control to maintain a balanced nutrition plan that allows me to have some of those things that I want, without being tempted to completely blow it and splurge when the desire hits me. Debt, Cigarettes, AND Junk Food Gone Forever?

spongebob vs patty

Give me a second while I dust some cobwebs. :) Where does one begin? How about with the obvious fact that I have really let myself down in a big way. I didn't just fall off the wagon, I inhaled the wagon. I have not been able to figure out where exactly I went wrong. I do know I stopped writing here and about that time is when it stopped becoming my daily priority but I believe it was a variety of factors. First I missed some workouts, next I was eating a little more liberally, and before you know it I was regressing full steam ahead back to my old ways! Quite frankly, I gave in to the temptations I faced daily, when it comes to the refrigerator and lost all control. I'm sure you figured it out as soon as my post count started to dwindle. Prep Week is Over, Today I Started Day 1 of P90X

p90xpromo

Hey guys and gals. I know I've been neglecting the blog here lately and I'm trying to get back to posting at least 3-4 times a week like I was. If I can do 5 it will be great. I have a lot of changes happening right now, one of which includes the pretty big responsibility of homeschooling my 5 year old Isaac this year. Not to mention the fact that we will be adding a beautiful baby girl to our family on August 29th. (YAY!!) Then we're moving around the end of November and during all this, I'm trying to start a graphics and screen printing business. The good news is that I used last week to prepare for the official start of P90X. Hopefully the third time really is a charm. Read more »

A Roller Coaster Called Life

roller coaster

Yep, it's me. I'm back! Actually I've been back but have been on one heck of a roller coaster ride, mostly emotionally, but also physically too. I have been extremely busy trying to catch up My trip went fantastically! It was great, but I am way off course right now. I was struggling a little before my last minute trip with the discipline and nutrition, but the trip was a full blown disaster in terms of eating. I thought we'd be eating in the hotel, so I brought our Nu-Wave Oven, but as it turned out, eating in didn't really work with our schedule since we were on the road a lot. Read more »

Headed Out of Town…

Well I am still working INSANITY and loving it, but I may experience a slight hiccup in my workout schedule. I’m going to see my daughter who lives 7 hours away. It’s a last minute trip I couldn’t, or wouldn’t have passed up. I leave Thursday and I won’t be back until Wednesday night of [...] Read more »

Insanity – Day 1 The Fit Test

Insanity Fit test

So today it began. Yes I'm talking about INSANITY, but I'm also talking about my climb back to machine status. Today I completed the INSANITY Fit Test and boy did it make me feel UN-fit. I had to do as many reps as I could muster of the following exercises for a total of one minute each. Read more »

I Feel Like I’m Falling Through the Cracks

slippery slope

This is going to be short and sweet. I feel like I am regressing, even though it's not a full scale bingefest. I ate great all week, that is, until Friday came along. All weekend long I was off the wagon, and I feel like I've gained a trillion pounds. As usual, I know that feeling can be attributed to not-so-good-for-me foods as opposed to actual weight gain (though water retention is usually a factor), but it's so hard not to think about that too. I feel like if I stepped on the scale right now I would probably want to cry. Read more »

Weigh In Day: Week 16

week 16 weigh in

So here I am. 16 weeks after starting my weight loss journey and I'm still at it. I've had some ups, some downs, and some in-between moments along the way, but overall, I've done well. In 16 weeks, I've lost a total of 39 pounds! Today I weighed in at 261.2. I didn't break free from the 260's yet but I have managed to lose, on average, about 2 pounds a week since I began. That is success in my book! Read more »
